SSWMB MD Reviews Muharram Cleanliness in Karachi

KARACHI: Managing Director of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB), Tariq Ali Nizamani, conducted a detailed inspection on Tuesday of Nishtar Road, Numaish Chowrangi, Jinnah Ground, and adjacent areas to assess the cleanliness and logistical preparations for the processions and Majalis of Muharram-ul-Haram.

Key Officials Present During Inspection

The inspection was attended by representatives from the Jafria Alliance, the Additional Inspector General of Police, the DIG Traffic, Deputy Commissioners of the South and East districts, District Directors of South and East, senior police officers, officials from sanitation companies, and other concerned officers. The team reviewed the cleanliness around Imam Bargahs and along the routes of mourning processions, including the application of lime sprinkling and other sanitation measures.

Round-the-Clock Sanitation and Complaint Mechanism

According to officials, the SSWMB’s machinery and cleaning staff are actively carrying out sanitation work at all key locations. A complaint center is operational 24 hours a day to provide relief to the public. Complaints received via the helpline number 1128 or through the “Complaints Karachi” app (SSWMB) will be addressed immediately. All concerned officers and staff are directed to maintain full coordination with other institutions to ensure the smooth execution of their duties.
