China Endorses Islamabad Understanding as Step Toward Regional Peace
China has described the recently signed US-Iran Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding as a "positive signal" that should be jointly safeguarded and implemented. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks during a regular press briefing in Beijing on Wednesday, emphasizing China's consistent advocacy for dialogue and negotiation in resolving regional issues and differences among parties.
China Rejects Use of Force, Backs Iran's Sovereignty
Guo Jiakun stated that China "opposes the threat or use of force" and always upholds a just position. Beijing supports all efforts conducive to peace, including the Iranian side's efforts to defend its sovereignty, security, territory, and national dignity. China also supports Iran in improving its relations with Gulf states and other regional countries.
14-Point Agreement Mediated by Pakistan

The memorandum, known as the Islamabad Understanding, entered into force on June 18 after being electronically signed by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump.
Key Provisions of the Islamabad Understanding
The agreement includes provisions related to ending the war, including in Lebanon, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and lifting the US naval blockade imposed on Iran. According to Guo, China supports all efforts that are conducive to peace and stability in the region.
