FUUAST Hosts Poster Conference on Russian History

The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) in Islamabad recently organized a poster conference titled “From Peter the Great to Vladimir Putin,” held in conjunction with Russian Language Day. The event saw participation from faculty members and students of the International Relations Department, along with its Head, Dr. Faisal Javaid, and the Cultural Attaché of the Russian Embassy in Pakistan, Mr. Gleb Shubin.

Student Research on Russian History

Students presented their research findings on significant periods in the history of the Russian state, showcasing a deep interest in Russia’s formation and development as a multinational country with a history spanning over a thousand years. The presentations covered various eras, highlighting key events and figures that shaped the nation.

Russian Language and Alexander Pushkin

In his address, Cultural Attaché Gleb Shubin delivered a presentation on the critical stages in the evolution of the modern Russian language. He emphasized the invaluable contributions of Alexander Pushkin, often referred to as the “sun of Russian poetry,” to the development of the language. Shubin elaborated on how Pushkin’s works helped standardize and enrich Russian, making it a cornerstone of national identity.

Education Opportunities in Russia

Furthermore, the diplomat highlighted the numerous opportunities available for Pakistani citizens to pursue higher education in Russia. He discussed scholarship programs and academic partnerships that facilitate cross-cultural learning and exchange. The event concluded with an interactive session, where students engaged with the speakers on topics ranging from historical analysis to contemporary Russian society.
