Around 5,000 Punjab Police personnel, including both male and female officers, arrived in Gilgit-Baltistan on Saturday to perform security duties for the general elections being held on Sunday.

Deployment Details

According to sources, the Punjab Police contingent has formally assumed its responsibilities and has been deployed at various locations across the region to help ensure a peaceful and secure polling process.

The deployed force includes 1,500 personnel from the RMP wing of Punjab Police and 1,242 officers from the Punjab Constabulary, who have already reached Gilgit-Baltistan and joined election security operations.

In addition, 1,958 female personnel from the Punjab Highway Patrol Wing have been sent to assist with polling arrangements and security duties. Another 300 female officers from Lahore Police have also been deployed to Gilgit-Baltistan as part of the comprehensive security plan.

Security Measures

The additional police force has been dispatched to support local law enforcement agencies in maintaining law and order, securing polling stations and facilitating a smooth electoral process across the region.

Authorities said the deployment is part of broader security measures aimed at ensuring that voters can cast their ballots in a safe and peaceful environment during the Gilgit-Baltistan general elections.
