Iran Still Reviewing US Deal Text, No Response Sent

Iran is still reviewing the final text of a possible deal with the United States and has not yet sent a response, according to Iran's semi-official news agency Mehr, which cited a source familiar with the matter. The source added that Iran is seeking to achieve 'real, tangible' benefits from any agreement. The source also noted that 'the history of US non-compliance and historical distrust' has led Tehran to approach the issue 'very strictly.'

Escalating Tensions in the Middle East

Tensions in the Middle East have escalated significantly since the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran in February. In retaliation, Tehran carried out attacks targeting Israel and US allies in the Gulf region, alongside the closure of the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The situation has raised concerns about global oil supplies and regional stability.

Ceasefire and Failed Talks

A ceasefire was achieved on April 8 through Pakistani mediation, but subsequent talks held in Islamabad failed to produce a lasting agreement. Despite this, efforts to find a diplomatic solution have continued. One of Iran's key conditions for ending the war permanently is the cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon, where the latest Israeli assault has been ongoing since early March.
