Pakistan Peoples Party South Punjab Secretary General and Member of the National Assembly Natasha Daultana has stated that Pakistan has played a positive and constructive role in ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability between the United States and Iran. She added that the efforts of Field Marshal Asim Munir have also been significant in this regard.
Key Details of the Diplomatic Initiative
In a special interview, Natasha Daultana said that the proposed 60-day Memorandum of Understanding under discussion is of a highly sensitive nature and could have far-reaching implications for the region and global politics. She noted that the United States is approaching its midterm elections and is facing several domestic political and economic challenges, while a substantial portion of its budget is being spent on defence, making regional de-escalation an important objective for the American leadership.
Regional and Global Context
She remarked that the situation in the Middle East has entered a critical phase and diplomatic contacts among various stakeholders are continuing. According to her, Israel’s internal political dynamics and upcoming electoral considerations may also influence developments in the region, making dialogue, restraint, and diplomacy essential for all parties involved.
International Monitoring and Pakistan's Role
Natasha Daultana further said that the international community is closely monitoring the peace process and the role of various representatives participating in it. She stated that Pakistan, Qatar, and other Muslim countries are making continuous efforts to promote lasting peace, stability, and negotiations in the region.

However, she cautioned that the situation remains fragile and it would be premature to declare any development final at this stage. She emphasised that all concerned countries must act responsibly and avoid steps that could escalate tensions. Expressing optimism about ongoing diplomatic initiatives, she said successful negotiations would pave the way for peace, progress, and prosperity for the people of the region.
