North Korea declared on Sunday that denuclearization is a matter irreversibly terminated, as it condemned recent nuclear deterrence discussions between the United States and South Korea.
Official Statement from North Korea
A spokesperson for North Korea's foreign ministry, in a statement carried by state media KCNA, said: 'The US and its vassal forces' meaningless rhetoric against the DPRK and cooperation in posing a nuclear threat to it can never affect the irreversible position of the DPRK as a nuclear weapons state.' The statement used the country's official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
The spokesperson added: 'The denuclearization is an irreversibly finalized matter.'
US-South Korea Nuclear Talks
Last week, officials from the United States and South Korea met in Seoul under their Nuclear Consultative Group (NCG) to discuss strengthening nuclear deterrence and readiness against North Korea's growing weapons program.
North Korea's condemnation comes amid heightened tensions on the Korean Peninsula, with Pyongyang continuing to advance its missile and nuclear capabilities despite international sanctions.
