PM Gets Briefing on Eid Security, GB Election Plans

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was briefed on Tuesday about the comprehensive security arrangements for Eidul Azha and the preparations for the upcoming elections in Gilgit-Baltistan. The briefing took place during a high-level meeting attended by senior civil and military officials.

Eid Security Measures

During the meeting, the Prime Minister was informed that foolproof security arrangements have been made across the country to ensure a peaceful Eid. Special security plans have been put in place for mosques, Eidgahs, public places, and markets. Law enforcement agencies have been directed to remain vigilant and take strict action against any elements that may try to disrupt peace.

Deployment of Security Forces

Thousands of police and paramilitary personnel will be deployed to guard sensitive locations. Quick response forces have also been positioned to handle any emergency situation. The Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of the security agencies and emphasized the need for maintaining high vigilance.

Gilgit-Baltistan Election Arrangements

The meeting also reviewed the arrangements for the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly elections, scheduled to be held on June 15. The Prime Minister was briefed on the security plan for the elections, including the deployment of troops and the provision of a peaceful environment for voters.

Ensuring Transparent Polls

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has finalized the arrangements for the elections. More than 600 polling stations have been set up, and strict security measures will be implemented to ensure a free and fair electoral process. The Prime Minister directed that all necessary resources be provided to the ECP to conduct the elections smoothly.

The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of ensuring the safety of election staff and voters. He urged the people of Gilgit-Baltistan to participate actively in the electoral process and exercise their right to vote.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Interior Rana Sanaullah, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, and other senior officials.
