PMD Forecasts Rain, Dust Storms Across Pakistan June 16-20

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Tuesday forecast widespread rainfall, dust storms and windstorms across several parts of the country from June 16 to 20 under the influence of a westerly wave moving into the upper regions.

Punjab and Surrounding Areas

According to the forecast, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Lahore and other districts of Punjab are expected to receive scattered dust storms, windstorms and rainfall during the period, with intermittent breaks.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan

In Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, scattered rain is expected from June 18 to 22, with occasional gaps in weather activity.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The PMD said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will experience scattered rain accompanied by dust and windstorms, with a possibility of isolated heavy falls or hailstorms between June 16 and 20.

Balochistan

In Balochistan, dust storms and rainfall are expected in northern and northeastern districts including Zhob, Sherani, Ziarat, Kohlu, Naseerabad, Quetta, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, Harnai, Sibi, Barkhan, Khuzdar and Dera Bugti during the forecast period.

Sindh

Upper Sindh districts including Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Dadu, Ghotki, Kashmore, Shikarpur and Shaheed Benazirabad are also likely to receive dust storms and rainfall from June 16 to 20. Light rain accompanied by dust storms may also affect coastal areas of Sindh, including Karachi and adjoining regions.

Advisory

The Met Office advised citizens to take precautionary measures in view of strong winds, dust storms and possible heavy rainfall in some areas.
