Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has pledged to complete the Diamer-Bhasha Dam if his party forms the government following the June 7 elections. Addressing a public gathering in Gilgit-Baltistan, Bilawal stated that work on the mega project had already begun and several project packages had been announced. He emphasized that the dam would have been completed had the previous PPP government remained in power.
National Necessity
Bilawal asserted that the Diamer-Bhasha Dam is not only the right of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan but also a national necessity, adding that no other project is more important for Pakistan's future. He credited former President Asif Ali Zardari with giving identity to Gilgit-Baltistan and initiating major development work on the dam during his tenure.
PPP's Contributions
The PPP chairman highlighted his party's role in launching key national projects, including infrastructure initiatives, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and the 18th Constitutional Amendment, which he said contributed to development across the country. He also criticized political opponents over their claims on foreign policy and governance, alleging that some narratives ignored decisions made by previous governments.
