Islamabad Police Arrest Gang Impersonating Officials for Robberies
Islamabad Police Arrest Impersonation Gang

Islamabad Police announced on Friday the arrest of two suspected members of a criminal gang that impersonated police officers and government officials to rob citizens, following a series of complaints. The suspects, who have prior criminal records, allegedly posed as law enforcement personnel during armed robberies.

Arrests and Judicial Remand

Karachi Company Police reported that a female suspect, believed to be a key operative, has also been arrested and sent to judicial remand. The two male suspects remain in police custody for further investigation. Police sources revealed that the gang specifically targeted motorists traveling toward the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

Modus Operandi

The gang employed a deceptive tactic: female members dressed in nurses' uniforms would ask passing motorists for a lift. Once inside the vehicle, other gang members would intercept the motorist a short distance away, accuse the driver of attempting to abduct or assault the woman, and identify themselves as police officers or government officials. According to police, the suspects displayed firearms and wireless communication sets to reinforce their false identities before assaulting and intimidating their victims. During the confrontation, the female accomplice would leave the vehicle, increasing pressure on the victim. The gang then threatened to register criminal cases and take victims to a police station unless they surrendered cash, mobile phones, and other valuables.
