KP Governor Kundi Calls for Collective Environmental Action

Peshawar - Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi has called for collective efforts to protect the environment, warning that climate change, pollution and the depletion of natural resources pose serious challenges to future generations.

In a message issued on the occasion of World Environment Day, the Governor said a clean, green and safe environment was essential for sustainable development and long-term public well-being. He noted that climate change, air pollution, deforestation, dwindling water resources and environmental degradation were among the most pressing global challenges, adding that Pakistan remained one of the countries most vulnerable to the effects of climate change despite contributing only a small share of global carbon emissions.

Faisal Kundi stressed that environmental protection was a shared responsibility requiring the active participation of governments, institutions and citizens alike. He said greater public awareness, coupled with practical measures, was necessary to address environmental challenges effectively.

He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's forests, water resources and natural landscapes were valuable assets that must be preserved for future generations.

Calling on citizens to play an active role in environmental stewardship, he urged people to plant trees, conserve water, reduce plastic consumption and promote cleanliness in their communities. Highlighting the role of young people, the Governor encouraged students and youth to become ambassadors for environmental awareness and adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives.

Reaffirming his commitment to environmental conservation, sustainable resource management and climate resilience, Faisal Kundi said support would continue for initiatives aimed at protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development. He added that World Environment Day served as an important reminder that safeguarding the planet was a shared responsibility and essential to securing a healthier future for generations to come.
