Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Approves Reforms to Accelerate Public-Private Partnership Projects

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has granted in-principle approval to further streamline and integrate the Public-Private Partnership Authority and its system, aiming to accelerate development projects through enhanced public-private collaboration. He chaired a high-level meeting in Islamabad focused on strengthening the Public-Private Partnership framework and improving the execution of both ongoing and future development schemes.

Reorganization Under Privatization Division

Under the newly approved plan, the Public-Private Partnership Authority will now operate under the Privatization Division. This strategic move is designed to better align its functions with modern requirements and significantly speed up project implementation across various sectors.

Enhancing Institutional Capacity and Transparency

The prime minister directed authorities to enhance the capacity of relevant ministries and departments, enabling them to more effectively initiate and manage development projects through public-private partnerships. He also instructed that such projects be included in the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) used to evaluate institutional performance, ensuring accountability and efficiency.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized making the public-private partnership system more transparent and efficient, noting that these reforms are aimed at improving governance and the delivery of critical infrastructure and development projects.
