Meeting with Station Commander
He made these remarks during a meeting with Rawalpindi Station Commander Brigadier Ali Anjum Syed, where a detailed briefing was presented on the proposed uplift and beautification project for Rawalpindi Railway Station and its surrounding areas.
Royal and Historic Character
The minister said the station would be given a unique royal and historic character that would serve as a symbol of Pakistan's cultural heritage. He emphasized that comprehensive planning is underway to improve the aesthetics of both the station and its adjacent areas.
Hanif Abbasi noted that the development project would prominently display Pakistan's cultural identity, national heritage, and historical traditions. He expressed confidence that Rawalpindi Railway Station would become even more attractive and visually appealing than Lahore Railway Station and its surrounding precincts.
Modern Facilities and Infrastructure
The minister stated that the goal is to develop Rawalpindi Railway Station into the most beautiful, modern, and culturally enriched railway station in the country. As part of the initiative, a spacious and well-organized modern parking facility will be established to provide greater convenience for passengers.
He added that markets and shops around the station would be upgraded under a uniform model to create a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing environment. The renovation of the market area and standardized shopfront designs will also be undertaken as part of the beautification drive.
Commitment to World-Class Services
Hanif Abbasi reaffirmed the government's commitment to providing passengers with world-class travel facilities, a pleasant environment, and modern services. He said that the station's uplift would not only enhance the city's beauty but also promote tourism and commercial activities in the region.
The minister stressed that alongside infrastructure development, efforts would be made to preserve the nation's historical identity and cultural heritage. He concluded that the revamped Rawalpindi Railway Station would emerge as a landmark symbolizing the successful blend of modern development, historical legacy, and Pakistani culture.
