THATTA: A suspect involved in the fatal shooting of two police constables was killed in an encounter with Thatta Police, and a snatched government rifle was recovered, authorities confirmed. According to a police spokesperson, three armed assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on two Gharo police constables stationed at Babra Link Road, Jam Wah picket, resulting in the martyrdom of Constable Akbar Ali and Constable Abdul Majeed Mari. A first information report (FIR) was registered at Gharo Police Station.
Special Investigation Team Formed
Taking stringent notice of the incident, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Thatta Sajid Ameer Sadozai constituted a special team comprising Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abdullah Afzal, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Muhammad Ali Dahamra, Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Shehzad Ilyas, and In-charge District Intelligence Committee (DIC) Inspector Faisal Shafeeq Memon. Leveraging modern technology and intelligence inputs, the team successfully traced the suspects.
Exchange of Fire
When police moved to apprehend the suspects, an exchange of fire erupted. One suspect, identified as Huzoor Bakhsh alias Rizwan, son of Amir Bakhsh Abro, who was involved in the killing of the two constables, was killed during the encounter. Police recovered the snatched official rifle from his possession, while his two accomplices managed to escape. A search operation is underway to arrest the absconding individuals.
Police Commitment to Justice
SSP Sadozai stated that the sacrifices of police personnel would not go in vain and that the blood of the martyrs would be accounted for. He added that Thatta Police will continue operations to protect public life and property and to eliminate crime. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Javed Alam Odho announced commendation certificates, a CC-I, and a cash reward of Rs500,000 for the police team. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Hyderabad Range Tariq Razaq Khan Dharijo announced CC-II certificates, while SSP Thatta announced appreciation certificates for the entire team.
Additional Suspect Injured
Police sources revealed that another suspect, Noor Hassan alias Chhotu, was critically injured in the encounter. Police are conducting raids to arrest the third suspect.
