District and Sessions Judge Zubair Shehzad Kiani chaired a meeting of the Criminal Justice Coordination Committee (CJCC) in Bahawalpur to review coordination among institutions involved in the criminal justice system and discuss measures for improving the delivery of justice in the district.
Meeting Participants and Agenda
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Shagufta Jabeen, judicial officers, senior police officials, officers of the Prosecution Department, and representatives of other institutions associated with the criminal justice system. The primary agenda focused on enhancing institutional coordination and streamlining the justice delivery process.
Judge's Remarks on Institutional Collaboration
Addressing the meeting, District and Sessions Judge Zubair Shehzad Kiani appreciated the collective efforts of all stakeholders in strengthening the justice system, improving institutional coordination, and ensuring the effective delivery of justice in Bahawalpur. He commended the Prosecution Department for its professionalism, dedication, and integrity in effectively pursuing criminal cases, noting that its performance had significantly contributed to strengthening the administration of justice.
The District and Sessions Judge observed that the close cooperation, mutual trust, and effective coordination between the police and prosecution in Bahawalpur had become a model of institutional collaboration, leading to improved investigations, stronger prosecution of cases, and the promotion of the rule of law.
Recognition of Key Officials
He also praised the leadership of District Public Prosecutor Nadeem Iqbal Khakwani and acknowledged the valuable contribution of his team in ensuring effective case management. In addition, he appreciated the professional services rendered by the Senior Civil Judge (Criminal Division) and the Senior Civil Judge (Civil Division).
Commitment to Justice
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the criminal justice system and ensuring the timely and effective delivery of justice to the public.
Deputy Commissioner's Open Door Policy
In a separate development, Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Syed Hassan Raza met citizens at his office and personally listened to their complaints and concerns under the Open Door Policy. Residents from different parts of the district presented both individual and community-related issues during the meeting. The DC carefully reviewed each application and summoned the officers concerned on the spot, directing them to take immediate action for the resolution of complaints.
Syed Hassan Raza directed the officials that no negligence, unnecessary delay, or irresponsibility in addressing public grievances would be tolerated. He emphasised that every complaint must be processed efficiently and resolved within the prescribed timeframe. Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that, in accordance with the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, providing accessible, efficient, and high-quality public services remains the district administration’s foremost priority.
Administrative Vision
He noted that the Open Door Policy was designed to offer citizens direct, transparent, and hassle-free access to government officials, eliminating unnecessary visits to public offices. He further directed all district officers to remain accessible to the public, listen to citizens with empathy and professionalism, and ensure that their grievances were addressed on a priority basis. Describing public service as a national responsibility, Syed Hassan Raza urged the government officers to perform their duties with integrity, transparency, and a strong sense of accountability. The DC reaffirmed that the district administration was utilising all available resources to promoting public welfare, and continuing implementing effective measures, in line with the Chief Minister’s vision, to ensure prompt resolution of public issues, strengthen good governance, and promote a transparent administrative system.
