Lahore Court Grants Pre-Arrest Bail to SHO in Threat Case

An additional district and sessions judge in Lahore on Monday granted interim pre-arrest bail to Defence-C Police Station SHO Faryad Ali until July 10 in a case of allegedly threatening a judicial magistrate during proceedings related to the alleged abduction and rape of two foreign women.

Court Proceedings and Bail Conditions

After hearing preliminary arguments, Additional Sessions Judge Abdul Qadoos restrained police from arresting the SHO until the next hearing. The court also issued a notice seeking a response from the Mustafabad police and directed the accused to appear before the investigating officer. While granting interim relief, the court made it clear that the accused must cooperate with the investigation in accordance with the law.

Background of the Case

According to the prosecution, the case against SHO Faryad Ali was registered on allegations that he had visited the home of the judicial magistrate and allegedly threatened him during the process related to the high-profile case involving the abduction and rape of the two foreign women. An FIR was subsequently lodged at Mustafabad police station over the alleged intimidation of the judicial magistrate.

Physical Remand of Three Suspects

Meanwhile, a magisterial court handed over three suspects to police on a five-day physical remand in the case. Police produced Rizwan, Nawaz, and Nasir before the court and sought their physical remand for further investigation. After hearing the matter, the court granted the request and remanded the three suspects into police custody for five days. The police informed the court that a case had been registered against the men and their custody was required to complete the investigation.

Hit-and-Run Incident Linked to Case

Police have registered a separate first information report (FIR) of a hit-and-run incident that allegedly caused damage worth Rs300,000 to a citizen's vehicle, with investigators linking the crash to the case involving the rescue of the women. According to the FIR registered at South Cantt police station under Sections 279 (rash and negligent driving) and 427 (mischief causing damage) of the Pakistan Penal Code, complainant Muhammad Usman stated that the accident had occurred on July 1 at around 7:45pm on Airport Road. The complainant told police he was driving his car towards Bhatta Chowk when another vehicle hit it from the rear and sped away. He requested legal action against the driver and compensation for the damage.
