Chaklala police have registered a case but made no arrests after armed men riding in luxury vehicles stormed a house in Chaklala Scheme-III, Rawalpindi, on July 8. The case was filed under charges including criminal intimidation, rioting with deadly weapons, and rioting by every member of the armed gang.
Victim Lodges FIR Without Naming Suspects
Muhammad Aitzaz, the owner of the house, lodged the first information report (FIR) without naming any individuals. He stated that at approximately 5:15am on July 8, armed men in 10 luxury vehicles stormed his residence. The assailants assaulted his servant, videotaped the incident, and remained outside the house for five minutes. The complainant noted that CCTV cameras installed in the street and inside his house also recorded the footage.
Police Tight-Lipped, Sources Cite Gang Rivalry
Although no one is named in the FIR and police officials privy to the investigation remain tight-lipped, sources indicated that the incident points to an alleged gang rivalry. According to sources, one group’s leader is reportedly abroad while another remains active in Rawalpindi. The video of the incident went viral on social media, showing armed men in luxury vehicles storming the house and assaulting a man outside.
Ongoing Trend of Armed Gangs in Rawalpindi
The incident underscores the persistent trend of armed gangs operating in Rawalpindi. White luxury vehicles have replaced the infamous black pickups, locally known as “dala,” previously associated with such groups. This shift occurs despite tall claims by the Crime Control Department (CCD) and Punjab Police regarding their efforts to curb gang activity. Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Attock administration has vowed zero tolerance against the sale of illegal medicines.
