The Punjab Assembly Secretariat has issued a comprehensive schedule for legislative business extending through July 2, outlining key budget debates, voting schedules, and private members' days during the ongoing budget session.
Budget Debate and Voting Timeline
According to the official schedule, the provincial budget for the financial year 2025–26 will be debated in detail from June 19 to June 23. During this period, lawmakers from both treasury and opposition benches are expected to present their perspectives on fiscal priorities, allocations, and policy direction.
The assembly will hold a vote on the provincial budget on June 24. However, proceedings will be temporarily suspended on June 25 and June 26 due to Ashura holidays, marking a break in the legislative calendar.
Post-Holiday Legislative Business
After the holidays, the House will resume business on June 27, when voting on the budget will continue alongside the passage of the Finance Bill. This bill is a legislative requirement to give legal effect to the new fiscal measures.
On June 28, the assembly is scheduled to debate the Supplementary Budget for the financial year 2025–26, followed by voting on June 29.
Private Members' Days
The session will conclude its scheduled business with three consecutive Private Members' Days on June 30, July 1, and July 2. These days allow lawmakers to present private bills, resolutions, and other legislative proposals not included in the government's agenda.
