Rawalpindi Courts Resume Full Operations After Energy Break

Rawalpindi district courts resumed full operations on Saturday after a two-month lull caused by court holidays on Fridays and Saturdays under the energy conservation programme. All session, civil, family, magistrate, and special courts conducted hearings as usual, marking the end of the reduced schedule.

Resumption of Regular Court Activities

Accused individuals from Adiala Jail were produced before the courts, and lawyers actively pursued their cases. Judges continued hearings throughout the day, handling a range of criminal and civil matters. The courts granted physical remand for 33 arrested suspects, sent 21 accused to judicial remand, approved bail applications for 16 suspects, and rejected nine others. Sentences were awarded to 12 accused, while 10 others were acquitted.

Family and Civil Cases Processed

In family court proceedings, four women were granted divorce decrees, and summons were issued to husbands in six newly filed family cases. One woman was reunited with her son, two women were sent to Darul Aman, and one woman was allowed to leave a shelter home. These actions reflect the courts' attention to family disputes and protective measures.

Enforcement Actions and Arrest Warrants

The courts issued arrest warrants for nine accused individuals and declared five others proclaimed offenders. Notably, arrest warrants were also issued for four police officials, and the salaries of three officials were withheld. In financial matters, the courts ordered the auction of properties belonging to seven defaulters of financial institutions, demonstrating continued enforcement of economic obligations.

The resumption of full court operations follows a two-month period during which the district judiciary operated on a reduced schedule as part of national energy conservation efforts. The return to normal hearings is expected to expedite the resolution of pending cases in Rawalpindi.
