HYDERABAD: The cousin of a journalist was killed and another relative injured when armed men allegedly stormed their house in Karampur area of Kashmore-Kandhkot district on Saturday in what the family described as a revenge attack.
Attack on Journalist's Home
The incident occurred in village Shafi Muhammad Jafri, where assailants attacked the home of journalist Ali Sher Jafri. According to the family, the gunmen opened indiscriminate fire, critically injuring Shahmurad Jafri and Rajab Jafri. Both victims were shifted to hospital, where Shahmurad succumbed to his injuries. Rajab was reported to be under treatment.
Family Claims Revenge Motive
Ali Sher Jafri claimed the attack was linked to the deaths of two members of the Nandwani community, allegedly associated with the Kokari gang, who were killed in a police encounter following a foiled snatching attempt involving him. He said that after the encounter, his family repeatedly tried to contact the families of the slain suspects to clarify that they had no role in their deaths, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
The family has demanded a thorough investigation and protection for journalists in the area. Police have registered a case and are searching for the attackers.
