PPP MNA Criticizes Federal Budget for Ignoring Middle Class

VEHARI - Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), South Punjab Secretary General and Member National Assembly Natasha Daultana has said that a strong nation is built on a confident middle class, but the present budget has failed to provide adequate relief to the segment that bears the burden of the economy, while economic inequality continues to rise.

Budget Debate Highlights

Speaking during the budget session debate on the Federal Budget 2026-27, Natasha Daultana said Pakistan needs institutional reforms, effective accountability and better governance. She maintained that the government cannot hide its failures merely through the privatization of state-owned assets.

She said the country’s economic improvement requires practical measures that provide real relief to the middle class, business community and ordinary citizens. She emphasized that strong institutions, transparency and accountability are the key pillars of sustainable development.

Call for Equal Opportunities

The MNA urged the government to adopt policies that create equal opportunities for all segments of society and help reduce the economic hardships faced by the people. She further stated that the parliamentary debate on the budget serves as an effective platform for reflecting public aspirations and expressed hope that it would lead to balanced and people-friendly economic decisions.

Criticism of IMF-Driven Policies

Natasha Daultana also criticized the federal budget, saying it appeared to be designed to satisfy the requirements of the IMF rather than address the genuine needs and concerns of the Pakistani people.
