The Sindh Basketball Association (SBBA) has rejected the recent Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBF) elections, alleging they were conducted secretly at an undisclosed venue without any prior schedule or public announcement. In a joint statement, SBBA President Ghulam Abbas Jamal Chaudhry and Secretary Aamir Sharif claimed that neither the media nor the sports community was informed about the elections, which they described as “fake” and detrimental to the development of basketball.
Allegations of Secret Polls
The SBBA officials said the elections were held despite ongoing efforts to revive the sport in Sindh, including court renovations in Larkana, coaching camps, and tournaments across the province. They criticized the PBF for holding what they called “controversial” elections just 11 months after the SBBA conducted its own elections on July 18, 2025, after a gap of more than seven years.
Legal Action Underway
SBBA also stated that it has already filed a case against the Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) in a civil court regarding registration issues and intends to pursue contempt of court proceedings over participation in the disputed elections. The association noted that it had conducted its own elections on July 18, 2025, after a gap of more than seven years, and criticized the PBF for holding what it called “controversial” elections just 11 months later.
Lack of Progress in Karachi and Hyderabad
SBBA further alleged that the federation’s affiliated Karachi and Hyderabad associations have failed to deliver meaningful progress for the sport. The association urged the sports community to take notice of what it described as an attempt to undermine basketball in Sindh.
