Member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly from Awami National Party (ANP), Arbab Muhammad Usman Khan, has formally written a letter to the Auditor General of Pakistan, calling for a comprehensive audit of the provincial government's financial and administrative affairs. According to ANP sources on Thursday, the lawmaker requested a detailed audit of development funds, public procurement, financial management, and the performance of various government departments.
Concerns Over Irregularities
Expressing concern over alleged irregularities in the provincial budget, the release of supplementary grants, and delays in development projects, Arbab Usman Khan stated that these matters require an independent and transparent review. He urged the Auditor General to assess the performance of government departments, the delivery of public services, and the utilization of taxpayers' money to ensure greater financial transparency and accountability.
Proposed Audit Scope
The letter proposed that the comprehensive audit begin in Peshawar before being expanded to cover the entire province. Arbab Usman Khan emphasized that such an audit would strengthen financial transparency, improve governance, and help restore public confidence in government institutions. He called on the Auditor General of Pakistan to initiate the audit process at the earliest so that the facts regarding the use of public resources could be brought before the public.
