Gaza's civil defense agency reported on Sunday that Israeli strikes in the Palestinian territory killed at least three people, including a woman, despite a ceasefire that has been in place since October. The agency, which operates under Hamas, said the incidents occurred in Gaza City and Khan Yunis.
Details of the Attacks
Two men were killed when an Israeli drone fired a missile that struck a group of civilians near the Kuwait roundabout in the Zeitun neighborhood of Gaza City, according to the agency. The bodies were received by Gaza's Al-Shifa hospital. In a separate incident, a woman was shot and killed by Israeli forces in Khan Yunis, with her body transferred to Nasser hospital.
Israeli Military Response
The Israeli military stated it was not aware of any incident involving the death of a woman in Khan Yunis and said it was looking into reports concerning the deaths of the two men.
Ceasefire and Ongoing Violence
The October truce largely halted the Gaza war that began after Hamas's October 7, 2023 attack. However, violence has persisted. According to Gaza's health ministry, which operates under Hamas and whose figures are considered reliable by the United Nations, at least 811 Palestinians have been killed since the truce began. The Israeli military has reported five soldiers killed in Gaza during the same period.
Media Restrictions
Media restrictions and limited access in Gaza have prevented independent verification of casualty figures or free coverage of the fighting.
