Security Finalised for Urs of Baba Haji Sher Diwan in Vehari

Comprehensive administrative and security arrangements have been finalised for the three-day annual Urs of the revered Sufi saint Hazrat Baba Haji Sher Diwan (RA) at Chaoli Mashaikh, scheduled to be held from July 9 to July 11. Authorities will ensure extensive facilities for thousands of devotees, including CCTV surveillance, clean drinking water, shaded resting areas, sanitation, medical camps, Rescue 1122 emergency services, uninterrupted electricity supply, and round-the-clock monitoring through dedicated control rooms.

Food Safety and Power Backup

The Punjab Food Authority has been directed to inspect langar arrangements and drinking water points, while Civil Defence personnel will carry out comprehensive security checks. MEPCO will ensure uninterrupted electricity, and backup generators will be arranged by the Auqaf Department in case of power outages.

Review Meeting Chaired by Deputy Commissioner

The arrangements were reviewed during a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Khalid Javed Goraya, which was attended by District Police Officer Tasawur Iqbal and senior officers of the district administration. The Assistant Manager of the Auqaf Department briefed the participants on preparations for the annual Urs.

Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to implement the contingency plan in letter and spirit and ensure that every possible facility is provided to devotees visiting the shrine. He stressed that all civic, health, rescue, sanitation and security arrangements should be completed well before the commencement of the Urs.

Foolproof Security Plan

District Police Officer Tasawur Iqbal informed the meeting that a foolproof security plan had already been prepared to ensure the peaceful conduct of the annual event. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Saba Sahar, Assistant Commissioner Vehari Anum Akram, Assistant Commissioner Burewala Jawad Hussain, CEO Health Dr. Fahad Waheed, District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Civil Defence Officer Rehan Waraich, and officers of the concerned departments.
