Secretary Auqaf Punjab and Chief Administrator Auqaf Dr Ehsan Bhutta on Tuesday took serious notice of delays in ongoing development projects at major shrines in Multan and directed the authorities concerned to complete all pending works by July 15 ahead of the annual Urs of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya (RA).
Inspection of Langar Khana and Manager Office Project
During an inspection of the under-construction Langar Khana and Manager Office adjacent to the shrine of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya (RA), Dr Bhutta reviewed various components of the project, including rooms, roofing works, kitchen facilities, washroom blocks, retaining walls and other allied infrastructure.
Taking serious notice of the slow pace of work, he observed that progress remained unsatisfactory despite the passage of nearly two and a half months since his previous visit. He noted that less than a month remained before the commencement of the annual Urs on 5th Safar and stressed that all facilities must be made operational well before the event. Officials of the Walled City Authority and contractors were also present on the occasion.
July 15 Deadline and Warning Against Negligence
Dr Bhutta directed the authority to complete all construction work by July 15 and hand over the facilities to the Auqaf administration, enabling smooth arrangements for devotees and visitors during the Urs. He warned that any negligence or delay in the execution of the projects would not be tolerated.
Visit to Multan Museum
Earlier, Dr Bhutta visited the Multan Museum, where he inspected valuable artefacts and historical relics preserved at the facility. Recalling his role in the establishment of the museum during his tenure as Secretary Industries, he appreciated the contributions of officers and individuals who played a part in its development and in preserving the region’s rich cultural and historical heritage. He said the Multan Museum served as an important institution for safeguarding national heritage and promoting historical and cultural awareness among the public.
Inspection of Shah Rukn-e-Alam and Musa Pak Shaheed Shrines
Later, the Auqaf secretary inspected the under-construction washroom block near the shrine of Hazrat Shah Rukn-e-Alam (RA) and directed the Walled City Authority to ensure that all facilities were completed, fully functional and handed over to the relevant administration before July 15. He also visited the shrine of Hazrat Musa Pak Shaheed (RA) and reviewed ongoing development works being carried out under the supervision of the Walled City Authority. He instructed officials to maintain high construction standards and ensure effective drainage arrangements to prevent rainwater accumulation during the monsoon season.
Quality and Timely Completion Emphasised
While appreciating the progress made in the veranda section within a short period, Dr Bhutta emphasised that all development works should be completed within the stipulated timeframe without compromising on quality.
