DC Vehari Imposes Section 144 on Canals, Orders Project Completion

Deputy Commissioner Vehari Khalid Javed Goraya chaired a series of meetings on the Punjab Development Program, public safety, resource mobilization, and district performance indicators. He directed all departments to complete ongoing development projects by June 30 while ensuring quality and transparency.

Section 144 Imposed to Prevent Drownings

To prevent drowning incidents during the summer season, the Deputy Commissioner imposed Section 144 for 30 days, banning bathing, swimming, and recreational activities in canals and rivers across the district. This measure aims to reduce the risk of accidental deaths in water bodies.

Resource Mobilization and Asset Utilization

Goraya reviewed proposals for utilizing government assets through sale, lease, auction, and public-private partnerships to enhance revenue generation. He emphasized the need to maximize income from underutilized properties.

Price Control and Public Safety Measures

The Deputy Commissioner ordered strict implementation of price control measures, continued action against illegal mini petrol pumps and gas refilling points, removal of encroachments, improvement of sanitation services, maintenance of filtration plants and streetlights, and monitoring of fertilizer and pesticide prices. He also called for better performance by all departments on key district indicators.
