A meeting of the District Coordination Committee (DCC) took place under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali and Brigadier Asim Aziz Kiani. The session reviewed ongoing integrated enforcement actions across multiple sectors.
Coordinated Operations
According to a spokesperson for the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, the meeting was informed that coordinated operations are being conducted against illegal petrol pumps, organized begging networks, encroachments, drug trafficking, human smuggling, electricity theft, and traffic law violations.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all relevant departments to strengthen inter-agency coordination to ensure effective and sustained results. She emphasized that strict action should be taken against networks facilitating illegal mini petrol pumps, including those supplying dispensing equipment.
Intensified Actions
She also ordered intensified operations against professional beggars with the support of the Special Branch. The meeting highlighted that enforcement efforts in all sectors are interconnected and require a unified strategy for better outcomes.
Traffic Enforcement Data
The committee was briefed on traffic enforcement data from March 16 to June 15. During this period, 57 road accidents were reported, resulting in 57 deaths—including 38 motorcyclists—and 46 injuries.
Authorities issued 4,793 challans, including:
- 2,793 for unregistered vehicles
- 13,906 for motorcyclists not wearing helmets
- 1,161 for drivers not using seat belts
- 524 for over-speeding
- 2,017 for one-way violations
