The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has confiscated more than 31 kilograms of narcotics and apprehended several suspects during a series of coordinated operations across the province, officials confirmed on Thursday.
Details of the Operations
According to the department, a total of 31.49 kilograms of narcotics were recovered in operations conducted in Peshawar, Nowshera, Khyber, Kohat, and Abbottabad. Cases have been registered at the respective Excise police stations, and investigations are currently underway.
Peshawar Operation
In Peshawar, the Excise Bureau of Intelligence and Investigation intercepted a motorcyclist on a service road and recovered six kilograms of hashish. The suspect was arrested at the scene.
Nowshera Seizure
At the Ajab Bagh Excise Check Post on the Grand Trunk Road in Nowshera, officials foiled an alleged bid to smuggle narcotics by motorcycle, recovering 18 kilograms of hashish and arresting the suspect.
Khyber District Arrest
In Khyber district, Excise Police arrested a woman during an operation near the Jamrud Bypass. A female constable conducted a search that allegedly led to the recovery of 3.6 kilograms of hashish.
Kohat and Abbottabad Recoveries
Excise Police in Kohat recovered 3.6 kilograms of hashish from a suspected drug trafficker during an operation and took the suspect into custody. In Abbottabad, the Excise Bureau of Intelligence and Investigation’s Hazara Squad recovered 290 grams of heroin from a suspect during an operation near the Havelian Interchange, officials said.
Ongoing Campaign
The department stated that anti-narcotics operations would continue across the province as part of its ongoing campaign against drug trafficking, adding that those involved in the narcotics trade would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
