The ongoing process of deporting illegally residing foreign nationals, including Afghan citizens, continues across Punjab. Punjab Police have so far deported 35,216 individuals from Lahore and various other parts of the province. According to a spokesperson for Punjab Police, 208 illegally residing foreign nationals are currently present at different holding points, awaiting their deportation.
Details of Deportees
The spokesperson provided a detailed breakdown of those deported: 13,766 men, 7,061 women, and 14,389 children. Among the deportees, 10,954 were holders of Proof of Registration (PoR) cards, 11,131 possessed Afghan Citizen Cards (ACC), and 13,131 were foreign nationals residing illegally in the country without any documentation.
Security Measures
Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdul Kareem stated that security across the province has been placed on high alert. He emphasized that concerted efforts are being made to ensure the removal of all illegally residing individuals in accordance with government policy. The IGP further noted that Punjab Police is implementing the repatriation process for illegally residing foreign nationals in strict compliance with international laws and relevant regulations.
The deportation drive is part of a broader government initiative to address illegal immigration and ensure legal compliance. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and process individuals at holding centers before their repatriation.
