LAHORE: Three key suspects involved in the armed attack on Member Punjab Assembly (MPA) Col (retd) Ayub Khan Gadhi were killed in an alleged police encounter, while two others were arrested during an operation conducted by the Crime Control Department (CCD) in Toba Tek Singh.
Details of the Incident
According to a CCD Punjab spokesperson, the suspects were involved in a recent attack on the camp of MPA Gadhi, during which the lawmaker sustained serious injuries. The spokesperson said that four civilians present at the dera of the MPA were also killed when the attackers allegedly opened indiscriminate fire during the incident.
Police Operation
Acting on a tip-off, a CCD team conducted a raid within the limits of Rajana Police Station to apprehend the suspects. Upon seeing the police party, the accused allegedly opened fire, leading to an exchange of gunfire. As a result, three main suspects involved in the attack were killed, while two others were arrested from the scene.
Recovery and Investigation
The spokesperson said that heavy weapons and ammunition were recovered from the possession of the suspects. Further investigation is underway, while raids are being conducted to arrest the remaining accomplices involved in the case.
In a separate development, over 9,565 violators have been arrested for kite flying in the province.
