Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) on June 3 and 4 in the Panjgur District of Balochistan, eliminating six Indian-sponsored terrorists belonging to the Fitna al-Hindustan group, the military's media wing announced on Friday.
Operation Details
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the operation was carried out based on intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists linked to the Indian proxy group. During the operation, security forces effectively engaged multiple terrorist hideouts, resulting in the death of six militants after intense exchanges of fire.
According to the ISPR, a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and vehicles was recovered from the slain terrorists, who were actively involved in various terrorist activities in the region.
Sanitization Operations
The ISPR added that sanitization operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored terrorists in the area. The statement reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to eradicating foreign-sponsored terrorism under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
Leadership Commendation
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the security forces for their successful operation. In separate statements, both leaders emphasized that operations under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam would continue until terrorism is completely eradicated.
President Zardari reiterated the nation's resolve to eliminate terrorism, stating that Fitna al-Hindustan and its facilitators would never undermine Pakistan's peace and stability. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the forces for neutralizing terrorists who were plotting to harm innocent citizens, and reiterated the government's commitment to lasting peace and security.
Interior Minister's Tribute
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also praised the security forces for their bravery and professionalism, noting that the timely action foiled the nefarious designs of the terrorists. He paid tribute to the forces and affirmed the nation's support in the fight against terrorism.
Previous Operations
Earlier, security forces killed 17 terrorists of Fitna al-Hindustan in a series of IBOs across multiple districts of Balochistan following the May 24 train incident. Operations were conducted in Mastung, Nushki, Zehri, Khuzdar, and Ketch districts, with a large cache of weapons, ammunition, explosives, and IEDs recovered.
