MUZAFFARGARH - Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Ghazi Khan Muhammad Azhar Akram conducted a special visit to Muzaffargarh district on Wednesday. During the visit, he carried out emergency inspections of City and Sadr Police Stations, chaired a crime review meeting with circle officers, met with Muharram stakeholders, and inaugurated several newly completed police infrastructure projects.
Warm Welcome and Guard of Honour
According to a police spokesperson, RPO Muhammad Azhar Akram was warmly received upon his arrival by District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah. A smartly turned-out police contingent presented a guard of honour in his honour.
Surprise Inspections of Police Stations
During surprise visits to City Police Station and Sadr Police Station Muzaffargarh, the RPO reviewed the overall performance of the police stations. He inspected record maintenance, progress in ongoing investigations, arrests of proclaimed offenders, pending applications, front desk operations, lock-ups, barracks, malkhana (property room), armoury, and the condition of police buildings. He also interacted with detainees lodged in the lock-ups to inquire about their concerns.
Directives for Citizen Service
The RPO directed officers to treat citizens with courtesy and ensure prompt redressal of their grievances. He stressed that the registration of First Information Reports (FIRs) must be completed within the prescribed timelines without delay and that no public complaint should remain pending without valid justification.
Crime Review Meeting
A comprehensive crime meeting was later held at the District Police Office Muzaffargarh under the chairmanship of RPO Muhammad Azhar Akram, attended by all circle officers. The meeting reviewed progress in the investigation of serious criminal cases, including murder, attempted murder, robbery, highway robbery, kidnapping, rape, and other major offences, along with the district’s overall crime situation.
Instructions for Investigation and Prosecution
The RPO instructed supervisory officers to closely monitor investigations and ensure that all cases are concluded on merit and on the basis of solid evidence within the stipulated timeframe, with challans submitted to courts without unnecessary delay. He also directed officers to improve recovery and conviction rates in property-related crimes and enhance operational performance against organised criminal gangs. He made it clear that negligence or delays in the discharge of official duties would not be tolerated.
Meeting with Muharram Stakeholders
During the visit, the RPO held a special meeting with members of the Peace Committee, licence holders, and organisers of Muharram processions and religious gatherings. The participants expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements and assured the police of their full cooperation. The RPO urged organisers to strictly adhere to the prescribed code of conduct and advised Peace Committee members to play an active role in maintaining law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram.
Inauguration of Police Infrastructure Projects
RPO Muhammad Azhar Akram also formally inaugurated the newly constructed DPO Office Complex, DPO House Annex, and the Saiban Project at the SDPO City Office, Muzaffargarh. Officials from the Buildings Department briefed him on the details of the construction work and project implementation.
