LAHORE - The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Punjab reported that nearly one million people visited its parks across the province during the three-day Eid holidays. According to a PHA spokesperson, a total of 900,000 visitors enjoyed recreational activities in various parks, with Lahore alone accounting for 500,000 visitors.

Record-Breaking Visitor Numbers

The PHA managed parks in major cities including Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi, and Gujranwala witnessed an unprecedented influx of families and tourists. The spokesperson highlighted that the pleasant weather and extended holidays contributed to the surge in visitors. Special arrangements were made for cleanliness, security, and parking to ensure a smooth experience for all.

Lahore Parks Lead the Way

In Lahore, popular parks such as Jilani Park, Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, and Race Course Park were among the most visited. The PHA had set up additional food stalls, children's play areas, and entertainment zones to cater to the large crowds. The authority also deployed extra staff to manage the rush and maintain hygiene standards.

Other Cities See High Turnout

Outside Lahore, parks in Faisalabad received over 150,000 visitors, while Multan and Rawalpindi each recorded around 100,000 visitors. Gujranwala parks attracted 80,000 people. The PHA spokesperson said that the authority had prepared a comprehensive plan well in advance to handle the holiday rush, including temporary toilets, water coolers, and first-aid facilities.

Economic and Social Impact

The massive turnout underscores the growing importance of public parks as recreational spaces for families. Local vendors and small businesses also benefited from the increased footfall. The PHA plans to continue improving park facilities to attract even more visitors in the future.
