LAHORE: Two suspected robbers were arrested after being injured in separate police encounters in the Shahdara and Ravi Road areas of Lahore. The incidents occurred when police patrols attempted to stop suspicious individuals, who allegedly opened fire on law enforcement personnel.
Shahdara Encounter
According to police reports, Shahdara police were on routine patrol when they signaled three suspicious men to stop. Instead of complying, the suspects allegedly opened fire on the police. The officers returned fire in self-defense. After the crossfire ended, one of the suspects, identified as Shehroz, was found injured. Investigators revealed that Shehroz was struck by gunfire from his own accomplices during the exchange. Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect had been involved in robbing citizens by intercepting them during the recent Eid holidays.
Ravi Road Incident
In a separate incident, Ravi Road police attempted to stop two men riding a motorcycle without a registration number plate near Batti Chowk. The suspects allegedly sped away, prompting a police chase. During the pursuit, the suspects reportedly opened fire on the police but lost control of their motorbike and fell to the ground. Both suspects sustained injuries and were taken into custody. Police recovered weapons and stolen items from their possession.
Legal Proceedings
Both suspects are currently under medical treatment at a hospital under police custody. Cases have been registered against them, and further investigations are underway to uncover their involvement in other criminal activities. The police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to help maintain law and order in the city.
