With only 14 days left before the start of Muharram, the two-week wedding season in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad has reached its peak, triggering a sharp rise in shopping activity and bookings across markets, marriage halls, marquees, and hotels.
Surge in Market Activity
Markets, especially traditional shopping centres like Moti Bazaar, are witnessing a surge in demand for bridal and groom wear as families rush to complete wedding preparations. Prices of wedding attire, jewellery, and related items have also increased significantly, putting additional financial pressure on households.
Rise of Rental Outfits
Due to rising costs, many families have started opting for rented bridal and groom outfits instead of purchasing them. Rental bookings for wedding dresses have already begun, with packages for bridal outfits reportedly ranging from a few thousand rupees per event depending on the function.
Heavy Bookings for Venues
Marriage halls and marquees across the twin cities are also experiencing heavy bookings from June 5 to June 14. Many venues are fully booked for multiple events in a single day, while decorators are busy preparing lighting and stage arrangements ahead of scheduled ceremonies.
The wedding season has also revived related businesses which have hired additional staff to manage increased demand.
