A disturbing incident of alleged gang rape and blackmail involving two minor girls has come to light in Chak No. 232 TDA, under the jurisdiction of Fatehpur Police Station in Muzaffargarh. According to police officials, a case has been registered against a five-member gang based on a complaint filed by a citizen identified as Z, and investigations are underway. Raids are being conducted to arrest the accused.
Details of the FIR
The FIR names Mudassar Hameed, Kashif Abdullah, Zeeshan Haider, Asad Hussain, and Riasat Ali, along with two unidentified accomplices, as the alleged perpetrators. The group is accused of involvement in blackmail and other serious criminal activities. The complainant stated that the suspects lured a 16-year-old girl, who had gone to purchase groceries from a shop, into a back room where she was allegedly gang raped. The accused also recorded objectionable videos of the victim and used them to blackmail her. They allegedly pressured the victim into bringing her 15-year-old cousin to them, leading to further harassment.
Ongoing threats and police response
According to the affected family, the suspects continuously harassed both girls, blackmailed them using the videos, and are now issuing death threats. Police authorities confirmed that the nominated suspects are known to law enforcement agencies and have prior criminal records involving serious offenses. The victims' family has appealed to the Chief Minister of Punjab and the Inspector General of Punjab Police to take immediate notice, ensure swift arrest of the accused, and provide justice.
Community Vegetable Garden Programme launched
In a separate development, the district administration has accelerated preparations for the Community Vegetable Garden Programme, an initiative under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to promote household-level vegetable cultivation and food self-sufficiency. A review meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Hafiz Usman Tahir Jappa discussed the programme's objectives, targets, and implementation strategy. The deputy commissioner stated that the initiative would encourage urban and rural residents to grow vegetables at home, ensuring access to fresh produce while reducing household expenses. He directed relevant departments to complete arrangements on time and ensure maximum public participation.
Training and operational framework
Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension) Tahir Bhatti briefed participants on the operational framework, noting that citizens would be trained in modern vegetable cultivation techniques to enhance production at household and community levels. The deputy commissioner reaffirmed the district administration's commitment to utilizing all available resources for the programme's success and ensuring its benefits reach the public.
