The persistent efforts of MNA Nawabzada Iftikhar Ahmad Khan since 2018 have finally yielded results as the Punjab provincial cabinet has granted final approval for the estimated cost of the first phase of the Muzaffargarh to Khan Garh dual carriageway project. This project is part of the Muzaffargarh to Tranda Muhammad Panah road, commonly known as the "Killer Road." The case has now been forwarded to the competent authority for the issuance of tenders.
Project Execution Through Three Tenders
As previously informed, the mega project will be executed through three separate tenders. The first tender will cover the shifting of utility installations, including those of WAPDA, Sui Gas, and the Forest Department, along a 22-kilometer stretch from Muzaffargarh to Saleem Chowk in Khan Garh.
The second tender will be issued for land acquisition on both sides of the 22-kilometer route extending from Fareed Colony in Muzaffargarh to Saleem Chowk in Khan Garh. However, Pir Jahaniyan Chowk, Daya Wali Maari Chowk, and Munda Chowk will not be included in this phase. Under the project, the total width of the road has been fixed at 110 feet, including the main carriageway, service roads, and green belts.
The third tender will be issued for the construction of the road from Fareed Colony in Muzaffargarh to Shamsabad Bridge in Khan Garh.
Completion Timeline and Relief for Commuters
According to officials, the entire project has been given a completion timeline of 18 months. This long-standing issue for the people of Muzaffargarh, which had claimed hundreds of precious lives due to the poor condition and narrow structure of the road, is now nearing completion. It is expected to provide major relief to commuters and residents of the region.
Since 2018, Nawabzada Iftikhar Ahmad Khan and his team have treated the major and long-standing issues of the region as a challenge and have continued their efforts for their resolution.
