The group stage of the National Women’s One-Day Tournament concluded on a high note in Faisalabad this Wednesday, with both Invincibles and Challengers registering commanding victories. These results have paved the way for the tournament final, where Stars will lock horns with Conquerors this Saturday, 6 December, at the Iqbal Stadium.
Invincibles Post Strong Total, Bowl Out Conquerors
Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Invincibles put up a competitive total of 247 all out in 48.2 overs at the Iqbal Stadium. The innings was anchored by a brilliant knock from Hafsa Khalid, who scored a commanding 85 runs off 98 deliveries, finding the boundary rope 12 times. She received solid support from Muneeba Ali, who made a quickfire 44 off 45 balls, and Natalia Parvaiz, who contributed 43 runs.
For the Conquerors, the bowling duties were shared effectively by Amber Kainat, Ayesha Bilal, and Umm-e-Hani, who collectively took six wickets. In response, Conquerors' chase never gained momentum against a disciplined Invincibles attack. Despite a fighting half-century from Sidra Nawaz (51), the team was bundled out for 181 in 41.3 overs. The bowling honors were evenly spread, with Hafsa Khalid, Laiba Mansoor, Momina Riasat, Neelam Mushtaq, and Tasmia Rubab each claiming two wickets.
Challengers Secure Comprehensive Victory Over Strikers
Over at the HPC Ground, Challengers sealed a comprehensive 79-run win against Strikers in their final group match. Batting first, Challengers posted a formidable 264 for seven, thanks to contributions across the board. Openers Sadaf Shamas (45) and Ayesha Zafar (39) provided a fluent 55-run start. Yusra Amir then steadied the innings with a patient 56 off 82 balls, while Eyman Fatima chipped in with 24.
The standout performance came from Rameen Shamim, who played a pivotal, unbeaten innings of 71 runs from just 71 balls, striking nine fours to propel her side to a strong total. Facing a steep target, Strikers were dismissed for 185 in 49.4 overs. Aliya Riaz offered resistance with a gritty 56, but regular wickets, with Quratulain and Sana Talib taking two each for Challengers, halted any hopes of a successful chase.
