Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja has strongly criticised the board's decision to remove Shan Masood as Pakistan's Test captain. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Raja argued that the left-handed batter was unfairly blamed for the team's disappointing performances and was made a "scapegoat" after being handed an average squad.
Ramiz Raja Defends Shan Masood
Raja stated that if he had been in Shan Masood's position, he would have lodged a formal written complaint, insisting that no captain could be expected to deliver significantly better results without a stronger team. According to Raja, the quality of the playing squad played a major role in Pakistan's struggles, leaving the captain to shoulder the criticism alone.
Concerns Over Squad for West Indies Series
The former PCB chief also expressed concerns over the squad selected for the upcoming Test series against the West Indies. He cautioned that Babar Azam could encounter similar challenges if the team fails to perform, as the underlying issues of squad strength remain unaddressed.
Raja's remarks highlight ongoing debates about team selection and accountability within Pakistan cricket, with many fans and analysts echoing his views on social media.
