Pakistan Intensifies Crackdown on Undocumented Afghans

Pakistan has intensified its campaign against undocumented Afghan nationals following the expiration of the government's deadline for their legal stay on July 10. In line with federal directives, authorities across the country have been instructed to accelerate the deportation process by immediately detaining Afghan nationals found residing in Pakistan without a valid visa.

Daily Enforcement Reports Ordered

Officials have also been directed to submit daily enforcement reports to the Ministry of Interior. These reports will detail the number of undocumented Afghan nationals detained, the action taken against them, and their current legal status. The intensified enforcement follows a letter issued by the Ministry of Interior on June 28, 2026, to the chief secretaries of all four provinces, as well as Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad.

Provincial and Regional Implementation

The letter directed provincial and regional authorities to implement the government's decisions regarding undocumented foreign nationals. The ministry further instructed deputy commissioners, police authorities, and other law enforcement agencies to take all necessary measures to ensure effective implementation of the directives. The latest move is part of the government's ongoing efforts to regulate the stay of foreign nationals and enforce immigration laws across the country.
