Pakistan hockey received a significant boost on Friday as three internationally renowned coaches officially assumed their roles with the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), marking a major step in the federation’s drive to restore the country’s status among the world’s leading hockey nations.
New Coaching Panel Announced
The newly appointed coaching panel comprises David Dyer as Fitness Coach, Bob Weidow as Goalkeeping Coach and Penalty Corner Attack and Defence Specialist, and Chris Bowen as Technical Coach and Sports Psychologist. Shortly after arriving in Pakistan, the trio held an extensive meeting with PHF officials to finalise a comprehensive roadmap for the national hockey programme.
Focus on Development Strategies
The roadmap focuses on short-, medium- and long-term development strategies aimed at raising performance standards across all levels. The coaches also attended the final of the Prime Minister’s National Junior Girls Hockey Championship to assess emerging talent and evaluate the progress of women’s hockey in the country.
Assessment of Talent and Future Plans
According to PHF officials, the involvement of these international experts is expected to bring modern training methodologies and psychological support to Pakistan’s hockey setup. The federation aims to leverage their expertise to rebuild the national team’s competitiveness in international events.
