Kabengele Extends Dubai Basketball Deal Until 2028

Dubai Basketball has secured the services of Mfiondu Kabengele through 2028, extending the contract of the Canadian center after a stellar debut season in the EuroLeague. The extension, announced on July 6, 2026, builds on his existing deal that was set to run until 2027.

Outstanding Debut Season

Kabengele, who quickly established himself among the elite frontcourt players in European basketball, averaged 14.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, and a Performance Index Rating of 17.2 in his first EuroLeague campaign. He appeared in 68 games across all competitions—36 in the EuroLeague, 30 in the ABA League, and 2 in the VTB SuperCup—the second-highest total on the team behind McKinley Wright IV, who played 69 games.

His consistency and athleticism made him a key contributor during Dubai Basketball's historic inaugural EuroLeague season. Kabengele delivered several dominant performances, including a career-best PIR of 40 against Crvena Zvezda, a 26-point outing against Fenerbahce, and a 14-rebound game versus Olympiacos.

ABA League Triumph

Kabengele's impact was equally significant in the ABA League, where he averaged 14 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. His efforts earned him a spot on the 2025/26 ABA League Ideal Starting Five. He capped the season by leading Dubai Basketball to its first ABA League title and was named Finals Most Valuable Player.

The contract extension ensures that Dubai Basketball retains one of the most dominant big men in European basketball as the club continues to build for the future.
