Sindh Government Announces 19th Sindh Games in Sukkur for April 2026
The Sindh government has officially decided to host the 19th Sindh Games in Sukkur from April 16 to 19, 2026. This decision received approval from the Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mahar, marking a significant step in promoting sports across the province.
High-Level Meeting Reviews Arrangements
A high-level meeting, chaired by Minister Mahar, was held to review the preparations for the Sindh Games and the Thar Jeep Rally. According to a handout issued on Wednesday, the meeting included key officials such as:
- Secretary Sports Munawar Ali Mahesar
- Director Asad Isahaq
- Chief Engineer Aslam Mahar
- Section Officer Ali Dino Go-pang
- Officials from the Sindh Olympic Association
The meeting focused on ensuring smooth logistics and organization for both events, emphasizing transparency and merit-based competitions.
Event Details and Participation
During the meeting, it was revealed that the 19th Sindh Games will feature over 40 different sports, with participation from boys and girls across all regions of Sindh. The schedule for the games includes:
- Trials: Scheduled from March 24 to 29, 2026, to select talented athletes.
- Training Camp: A preparatory camp for selected players will run from April 11 to 15, 2026.
- Inauguration: The games will officially open on April 16, 2026.
- Closing Ceremony: The event will conclude on April 19, 2026, with a celebratory ceremony.
Minister's Directives and Government Commitment
Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar directed that all competitions be conducted transparently and on merit, providing equal opportunities for youth to showcase their skills and excel. He stated, "The Sindh government will ensure the success of the 19th Sindh Games, just like the National Games," highlighting the province's dedication to fostering sports development.
