Plot Synopsis
According to the film's synopsis, Forty Love follows Sacha Gallo, a talented tennis player portrayed by Kircher, as he pursues Grand Slam success in Paris under the guidance of his father and coach. The arrival of a new rival, played by Beckham, challenges not only his ambitions on the court but also his personal sense of identity. Producer Hugo Selignac praised Carlotti's transition into filmmaking, saying there "is a rare tenderness, melancholy and strength" in his work. He described Forty Love as a "sensual, romantic and deeply moving romantic fable and coming-of-age story" that explores elite sport and the emotions beneath its competitive surface.
Beckham's Career Shift
The project marks a new direction for Beckham, who has built a career in modelling and fashion. In recent years, he has worked with luxury brands including Yves Saint Laurent and Balenciaga. Before moving fully into fashion, Beckham pursued both football and tennis. He trained with Andy Murray during the late 2010s and later played for Fort Lauderdale CF, which became Inter Miami II, as well as Brentford F.C. Reserves. He left football in 2024 to focus on fashion opportunities.
