The government is planning to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven governance through a new digital platform aimed at improving coordination, transparency, and oversight across federal ministries and departments.
Review Meeting for PMOS Platform
Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema chaired a meeting to review the Prime Minister’s Office System (PMOS), an AI-powered platform designed to strengthen governance, enhance inter-ministerial coordination, and improve monitoring of government initiatives. The meeting was attended by Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA) Chairman Sohail Munir, and senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Centralized Digital System
During the briefing, PDA officials presented a comprehensive demonstration of the PMOS, explaining that the platform would connect all federal ministries with the Prime Minister’s Office through a centralized digital system. Officials said the system would enable real-time monitoring of tasks, projects, and milestones, promoting greater transparency, accountability, and efficiency in government operations. Directives issued by the Prime Minister’s Office would be communicated instantly to relevant ministries, while progress on assignments could be tracked in real time.
Automated Alert Mechanism
A key feature of the platform is an automated alert mechanism that flags overdue tasks through pop-up notifications to federal secretaries and other concerned officials, helping ensure timely implementation of government decisions.
Sovereign AI-Based Research System
The meeting was also briefed on a sovereign AI-based GPT-powered research system developed by the PDA. The tool is designed to support internal research by utilizing previous directives, decisions, and official records, allowing faster access to institutional knowledge and informed decision-making. According to officials, the GPT-based system will also function as a virtual assistant for government officers, helping them perform official tasks by understanding established procedures and workflows, thereby improving productivity and service delivery.
Next Steps and Commitment
Ahad Cheema appreciated the PDA’s efforts in developing the PMOS and directed stakeholders to further refine the platform before its implementation to ensure maximum effectiveness. The meeting concluded with a commitment to leverage digital technologies and AI to enhance governance, improve public service delivery, and promote a more responsive and accountable government system.
