Roblox's daily active users continued to decline in the first quarter of 2026, largely due to the implementation of age verification measures on its platform. According to the company's latest earnings report, Roblox now has 132 million daily active users worldwide, a decrease from 144 million at the end of last year and down from 152 million in the third quarter of 2025.
Regional Impact and Revenue Growth
In the United States and Canada, the number of active users dropped by one million compared to the previous quarter. Despite the user decline, Roblox's revenue increased to $1.4 billion. The company attributed the slower growth in the first quarter to "greater-than-expected headwinds" from the rollout of age-check features, which "slowed new user acquisition." Additionally, Russia's ban on Roblox in December 2025 contributed to the decrease in daily active users.
Expansion of Age Restrictions
Earlier this month, Roblox expanded its age restrictions to control the types of games accessible to different age groups. The company plans to "implement additional improvements designed to facilitate age-appropriate access to content and product features" over the next several quarters. Roblox stated that its focus on safety will lower its "expectations for topline growth in 2026."
Age Verification Statistics
Thursday's earnings report revealed that 51 percent of global daily active users have completed age verification by the end of the first quarter. In the United States specifically, 65 percent of active users have verified their age. Roblox has also been working to increase the number of games on its platform aimed at users over 18.
Developer Exchange Rate Increase
On Thursday, the company announced a 42 percent increase in its Developer Exchange rate for in-game spending from age-verified users over 18. This move is intended to incentivize developers to create content for older audiences.
