MUZAFFARGARH - In a significant operation, the Anti-Corruption Establishment arrested Sub-Inspector Saeed Ahmed Dasti, posted at City Sarwar Shaheed Police Station, on allegations of failing to hand over a recovered stolen motorcycle to its lawful owner. According to sources, the police officer is accused of withholding the recovered motorcycle despite court directives ordering its return to the rightful owner. The alleged non-compliance with judicial orders led to legal proceedings against the officer.
Reports indicate that the accused Sub-Inspector approached the court seeking relief from arrest; however, the High Court dismissed his bail petition. Following the rejection of bail, the Anti-Corruption team took him into custody. Anti-Corruption officials stated that further investigation is underway and that legal proceedings are being carried out in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Muharram Arrangements Accelerated
On the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, district authorities have accelerated Muharram arrangements, development projects, and public welfare initiatives across Khanewal. Deputy Commissioner Maliha Rashed visited Mian Channu to review preparations for 9th and 10th Muharram processions, inspected procession routes and an Imambargah, and directed officials to remove encroachments and hanging utility wires to ensure the safety and convenience of mourners.
She also reviewed ongoing beautification projects in major markets and inspected an underground water storage project aimed at improving rainwater management before the monsoon season. The Deputy Commissioner directed departments to expedite work and ensure construction sites are secured during Muharram.
Prison Health Council Meeting
Separately, the Deputy Commissioner chaired a meeting of the District Jail Prison Health Council and reviewed the availability of medicines, medical facilities, doctors’ attendance, and healthcare services for inmates. She emphasized the provision of timely and quality healthcare, stating that improving health facilities in prisons remains a priority of the Punjab government. Officials from the district administration, health department, and other relevant institutions attended the meeting.
Centre to Transfer Rs8.8 Trillion to Four Provinces Under NFC in FY 2026-27
In a related development, the federal government is set to transfer Rs8.8 trillion to the four provinces under the National Finance Commission (NFC) award in the fiscal year 2026-27.
