Attock Education Authority Abolishes 743 Vacant Posts

The District Education Authority Attock has abolished 743 vacant seats of teaching and non-teaching staff across the district on the directives of high-ups, citing the need to minimize financial burden on the national exchequer. The decision is part of a broader austerity drive to optimize public spending and improve resource management in the education sector.

Breakdown of Abolished Posts

According to official details, the abolished posts include 241 seats of Primary School Teachers (PSTs), 116 C-IV employees, 97 seats of Laboratory Assistants (LAs), and 58 seats of Naib Qasids (NQs). Rationale Behind the Decision

Officials stated that all 743 seats were lying vacant for a long period with no recruitment process underway. Retaining these unfilled posts on paper was creating unnecessary financial liability for the government in terms of budget allocation, pension liabilities, and administrative processing. By abolishing them, the authority aims to present a more realistic staff budget and redirect available funds toward improving facilities, teacher training, and learning materials for currently working staff and students.

Education experts note that keeping thousands of vacant posts on record often blocks funds that could be utilized for existing schools. The move is expected to help the district education department prepare more accurate projections for future recruitments based on actual need and enrollment data.

No Impact on Current Staff

The District Education Authority sources confirmed that the decision will not affect any currently serving teacher or staff member. No serving employee will be removed as a result of this action. The abolition applies only to posts that were vacant and unfilled.

The authority reiterated its commitment to improving the quality of education in Attock despite budget constraints. Officials said rationalization of staff and posts will help focus resources on functional schools and ensure better service delivery for students across the district.
